Plant: Perennial herb with reddish stems lying on the ground or floating and rooting at the nodes.
Flowers: Solitary in leaf axils, 5 yellow petals about 3/4 inch long.
Leaf:  Alternate on stems, oval shaped with prominent veined, 4 inches long on short stems.
Stems:  Reddish stems lying on the ground or floating.
Flowering period:   May to October
