Plant: Stiff erect, green stemmed annual growing to 7 feet

long branches. The sap is milky. |

Flowers: White to pinkish on the top and purplish on the
back, 5 toothed
at the tips. Solitary or clustered on short stiffly-spreading
branches.
Has fewer petals than Cliff Aster and the flowers are found all along
the stem, not just at the top. |

Leaf: Alternate on the stems, 4 to 8 inches long,
wavy-margined and
often withered by the time of flowering. The upper leaves are
shorter
and linear. |
