Some Common Plants of Upper Newport Bay

Spanish Sunflower  (Pulicaria paludosa)
Plant: An annual to perennial which grows from short rhizomes.  This is an invasive species new to the bay in the past 30 years.
Flowers: Has yellow ray flowers and many disk flowers. 
Leaf: Long and narrow oblong shape partially surrounding the stem.  Edges are smooth.
Flowering period:   June to September
