Some Common Plants of Upper Newport Bay

Sour Grass, Oxalis, Bermuda-Buttercup  (Oxalis pes-caprae)
Plant: Perennial herb with leaf and flower stems coming from a point on the root crown.  Grows in thick groups. Invasive.
Flowers: Yellow with 5 petals, 1/2 inch long. Flowers bloom in sequence so stem usually appears to have only 1 flower.
Leaf: Sets of three on 2 to 3 inch long stems, leaflets heart shaped.
Flowering period:  November to April
