Some Common Plants of Upper Newport Bay

Poison Hemlock  (Conium maculatum)
Plant: Biennial erect herb 1-1/2 to 10 feet tall.  Likes partial shade.  Very poisonous
Flowers: Clusters of clusters of white flowers on terminal stems.
Fruit: Oval with prominent ribs, 1/8 inch long.
Leaf/Stem: Compound leaf is fern like, 6 to 12 inches long. Stems have purple blotches. 
Flowering period:   April to July
