Pickleweed - S.  bigelovii  (Salicornia bigelovii)
Plant: Erect annual, simple stemmed with ascending branches, 2 to 20 inches tall.
Flowers: Very small, sunken in joints.
Leaf:  Succulent, reduced to fleshy sheaths, concentrate salt in leaf tips which turn red and fall off.
Flowering period:   July to November
