Some Common Plants of Upper Newport Bay

Parry's Phacelia  (Phacelia parryi)
Plant: Herbaceous erect annual to 6 inches to 1 1/2 feet tall.  Stems are brittle, gummy and covered with stiff hairs.
Flowers: Bell shaped,  deep purple shading to white at the center.  Stamen are well above the petals.
Leaf: Oval, toothed, 1/2 to 2 inches long.
Flowering period:   March to June
