Some Common Plants of Upper Newport Bay

Province Sea-lavender (Limonium ramosissimum)
Plant: A slender perennial much smaller than the native Sea Lavender. A very invasive native from the Mediterranean region.  In Santa Barbara county it has invaded the habitat of Salt Marsh Bird's Beak, an rare plant.
Flowers: An inflorescence is a branched cluster of small flowers above the leaves.  Flowers are lavender to pink, tubular in shape.
Leaf: One to two inches long, leathery, tip rounded, smooth, in basal rosettes with tapered base.  May show salt crystals on the surfaces.
Flowering period:   June
