California Blackberry  (Rubus ursinus)
Plant: A vine with thick, sprawling, spiny stems
up to 6 feet long. 
Flowers: White, about 1 inch across with
numerous stamens.
Fruit: Small, very sweet, shiny berries.
Leaf: 1 to 3 inches long, deeply lobed
Flowering period:   February to June
Use by Indians:  Fruit was eaten fresh or died for food.
