Some Common Plants of Upper Newport Bay

Baby Blue Eyes  (Nemophila menziesii var. menziesii)
Plant: Annual, somewhat succulent, covered with short hairs with spreading stems 4 to 12 inches long.  Among the earliest spring flowers.

Flowers: Bowl-shaped, 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches wide, bright blue with a light blue center on long flower stalks.
Leaf: Opposite on the stems, divided into 7 or 9 lobed parts, 1 to 2 inches long.
Flowering period:   February to June
