Some Common Plants of Upper Newport Bay

Slender Arrow Grass  (Triglochin concinna)
Plant: Grass like perennial, arising from spreading rhizomes,  to 15 inches tall.
Flowers: Small, inconspicuous in racemes 2 to 6 inches long, two or more per plant.
Leaf: Long cylindrical shaped blades growing from the base of the plant, 1/16 inch in diameter.
Flowering period:  March to August 
Use by Indians:  Seeds were parched and ground into flour.
Can be found here: North Star Beach, marshy areas
