Vista Point Opening Ceremony

The Vista Point opening ceremony and unveiling of the Robinson memorial plaque took place in beautiful sunshine on Saturday, November 8, 2008.

The ceremony commenced at 11:00 AM after the Friends Tour, conducted as it always is on the second Saturday of the month during the winter months. An attentive crowd of about 80 people listened as various speakers talked about Frank and Frances, the struggle to preserve the Bay,  the cooperative efforts in continuing to protect the Bay, the conceptualization of Vista Point and the memorial plaque, and the contributions of many to the completion of the project.

Speakers were: Jay Robinson, DFG Land Managers Carl Wilcox and Jeff Stoddard, long-time "Friends" Lane Koluvek and Ray Williams, architect Ron Yeo, Project Manager Ralph Clock, and Naturalists Dennis Baker and Jack Keating. Naturalist Jim Cokas, who designed the plaque, concluded the speeches with the unveiling.
