Peter and Mary Muth Interpretive Center

The Interpretive Center is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Admission is free, but there is a fee for scheduled school and family programs. See the School/Scout page for school programs. Family programs are offered as shown below. They are designed to let kids learn about nature and have fun at the same time.

These events are offered for Summer 2009. Unless otherwise indicated they take place or start at the Interpretive Center. Reservations are required. Call (949) 923-2275 or mailto:unbic@ocparks.com. For all programs space is limited and confirmation number may be required.

Sunset Stroll Saturday, June 20 (7:30 p.m.), July 18 (7:30 p.m.), Aug. 15 (7:00 p.m.)

Join park staff for a 90-minute twilight nature walk and discover the wonders that nighttime brings to our nature preserve. Then, create your own nocturnal critter to take home! May be re-scheduled due to weather. Dress warmly for the evening chill. All ages.  $3/person. 

Astronomy Night – Friday, July 17 (8:00 p.m.), Aug. 14 (7:30 p.m.)

Join members of the Orange County Astronomers for an inspirational 2-hour tour of the night sky. This program is open to all ages and will include a presentation and observation with telescopes. There is no fee for this program, only a suggested donation of $2 per participant.

Exploring Estuaries – Saturday, Aug. 8, 10:00 -11:30 a.m.

Join us in learning about the bay and what you can do to protect it!  We’ll be doing activities such as water quality testing, using watershed models and exploring the mud for animal life.  At the end you’ll be on your way to becoming a junior ranger! Program fee is $5.00 per person.

Tideland Tots – 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. for ages 2 – 5.  Join park staff for a parent – child experience with stories, movement and hands-on fun. $5 per child.

 Conservation Club 3:00 – 4:00 p.m for ages 2 - 13.  Come work with park staff to help establish a habitat for UNB wildlife.  Learn about the importance of native plants and water conservation.  Be prepared to get down and dirty.  Free.
