Plant: A perennial that has a woody base and grows in clumps that are between 2 and 5 feet tall. Exudes a resinous gum.
Flowers: There is only one flower head on each stalk. The flowers are a bright yellow "sunflower".
Stem: The leaves are a silvery gray in color.
Flowering period:
April through July
Use by Indians:
Resin was chewed and used used to treat various body pains.
