Completing the one-day Associate Training Class is the first step in becoming involved as a volunteer at UNB. Come learn about the history and ecology of the Bay and find out how rewarding volunteering here can be.

Associates greet and provide information visitors at the Interpretive Center. They perform outreach at Big Canyon.  They help staff at the Back Bay Science Center. They participate in habitat restoration and special events. They conduct scout programs and assist with water and walking tours and school programs. And they provide invaluable help with our administration, fundraising and PR.

An Associate answers questions at the Interpretive Center.

The one-day Associate Training is held every other month from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on a Saturday. Spring dates:

     March 20 and May 15

We are now requiring that all volunteers first complete the Associate Training before being admitted to the 50-hour Naturalist Training Program. For information on the Naturalist and Associate Training Programs, please contact Rita McCoy at (949) 923-2296.

To assist us, please use the  UNB Volunteer Interest Form. Print it, fill out the back, and mail or fax a copy of the back to Rita at the Interpretive Center, 2301 University, Newport Beach, CA 92660 - Fax (949) 642-3189.
